Does a computer run faster while on different accounts?

I have two accounts on my computer. One account was getting reallyyyyyy slow so I turned on a guest account. This one seems to be working better, but it's still a bit slow. Does being on this guest account give a clean slate or would I still need to clean up my other account to make my computer run faster?
